I-20 Construction: Commercial vehicles prohibited in work zone In an effort to enhance safety and help ensure effective traffic flow, commercial vehicles such as 18-wheelers are prohibited from driving through the I-20 reconstruction zone in Bossier City.
Previous messaging since the start of the project has strongly urged commercial traffic to utilize the primary detour of I-220, but this change will mean that vehicles not adhering to the detour may be issued a citation under Louisiana Revised Statute 32:237.

Winter Weather Enzo Advisory DOTD staff are in close communication with the National Weather Service, monitoring the forecast and coordinating all emergency operations aspects of the event. They are also working with the Louisiana State Police, local governmental partners, and other stakeholders to communicate the status of closures and other developments.

It’s important to remember that weather conditions can change quickly, and bridges and overpasses can become unsafe for travel before DOTD crews can place barricades.

Drivers should avoid being on the roadways if travel is not necessary.

If you must travel during winter weather conditions, motorists should adhere to the following driving safety tips:
  • Drive slowly and carefully.
  • Avoid driving while distracted.
  • Always allow for extra driving time.
  • Avoid using cruise control.
  • Reduce speeds when visibility is low.
  • Make sure there is plenty of room between vehicles.
  • Always wear your seatbelt.
  • Be on the lookout for DOTD crews, other emergency responders, and their equipment.
  • Remember that driving around a road-closed barricade is unlawful and unsafe for any reason.
